The Old Man and the Bible

Well, here I am in Rome. My flight here was good and actually quite interesting. I sat beside an old man who pretty much told me the story of his life. I heard about how he met his wife, about his seven children and seven grandchildren. When he asked me my name he said AH! My newest granddaughter is Katrina, so your name is unforgettable to me!
He talked the Bible to me, and said that it wasn't a coincidence that we were sitting next to eachother- god had planned it! Apparently god also planned for him to tell me the story of when he lost his virginity as well (he cried and cried).
Before I decided to get some sleep I went to the bathroom on the plane and I guess we were still climbing. There I was, sitting on the toilet thinking Great. Here I am, sitting on a toilet, taking about 2 G's...
The flight was far from full, so I managed to grab three seats in a row and spread out so I could sleep more comfortably. I slept a good 5-6 hours and then we landed shortly after I woke up. It took me forever to find my luggage in the airport, but find it I did.. so there was nothing to worry about in the end.
I'm meeting a couple other girls in about an hour. One of them managed to get us tickets for an audience with the Pope, but it took place before any of us landed in Italy (cue Mom and Aunt Yvonne: ooooohhh noooo!
One last tidbit: I caught a ride to my hostel with a bunch of other people going to different hotels (one of those van taxi things). Our driver was THE biggest picker I've ever seen! He put a certain picker I know to shame (you know who you are). He focused primarily on the nose and eyebrows a bit, so his repertoire wasn't nearly as varied as the picker in my life.

Anyway, people here are waiting to use the computers. They let us use laptops here for free, for thirty minutes at a time. Pretty nifty.

Some guy just threw a gumwrapper at me and his friend said he's being a knob. Might lie down for a bit before I meet the other girls.
More when I have time.

Hi Kiff!

Who is this "picker in your life"? Should I be concerned...let me know if so :S

Live it up over there, for those of us who can't.

P.S. My master over here would like to remind you to search for the biggest pair of sunglasses you can find.

Hello kiffers.

I wrote a comment, and was the first official comment-leaver, but Dana usurped my status thereof, because stupid google messed up and lost my comment. If Mat is reading this, fix that, would ya?

things you MUST do in rome:
1)Vatican Necropolis before they put the ky-bosh on it (i know that's not the correct spelling).
2)The forum and the coliseum
3)The church where the capucin monks are buried. They bury them for a few years, then dig them up and make sculptures out of their bones. My fave is the scapula clock.
4)The spanish steps. there is a pizzeria near the bottom of the steps that sells pizzas which have pumpkin flowers on them, sounds strange, but is tasty.

Anyhoo, we're glad that you're off on your adventure, and expect many a story after you get back. I also expect a postcard, god knows i'm always writing to you, and you never write back!!

Glad to hear you made it over the pond. We're just finishing our first day in the new house (although we still have loads of unpacking and still a few things left to move from the apartment) and things are going pretty well. Your bed is super comfy (we haven't painted/finished our room yet so we're in the guest room for the time being) and the room's all ready for ya.

Hey, I thought of you this morning. "Our" song came on the radio. You remember? The one from last summer? At the beach?

Ah, you probably don't remember. Here's a hint....

woo-hoo...

WOOOOOOOOO-hoo!

:)

Have a lovely day in Rome and remember to write me a postcard to the house so it can be the first thing we put on our new fridge! :)

Hey! Did you see the president today?! I hear he shut down half of Rome. I also heard a bunch of really annoyed Italians on NPR in that news report... seems that man pisses people off no matter where he goes eh? :)

Guess what?

Got my green card.... was a little disappointed though - it's not actually green! ugh...

Ok, I'm hot and tired... time for bed. We're off to St. Louis tomo... I'll email you when we're back on Monday :) ciao xo
